Alan coached Ria for many years and during that time he became a true friend to us, and like a grandfather to Ria.  We are honoured to have had the chance to have spent these years with him.  He was a teacher of tennis but his words went beyond the court and has guided Ria on her path, but also us as a family helping us make life decisions. 

We will  miss sitting together on the side of the court with him, where we’d laugh, talk, agree and disagree  challenging each other. 

We will miss him shouting:

”Ria, speed,speed,speed!”

”Chris, you may have been highly trained in your previous work, but please don’t take up tennis!”

”Tina, I’ve broken a tooth!”

Alan may not be here with us, but his words,humour, love and friendship will stay with us forever.
