26th February 2015 was the first day I had the privilege of meeting Alan Jones. Although there would be so many wonderful memories created over the next 9 years, that first day will always be as special as the rest to me. It was my trial at Northwood and I remember doing “three’s” with Jo and Finn for what felt like a very long time! Even just from that one session with Alan, I knew that he would push me in every way possible but I also knew that I wanted nothing more than to join him every day and try to be a bit better each time. For me, what stands out with Alan is not only the tough standards he set and the brutally honest conversations he had but how powerful he could make me feel. Later that evening he called me and that conversation is one that has stayed with me all these years later. I have never had someone who believed in me so strongly and unwaveringly, and I can never thank you enough for that. Although I will miss the little things like trying to hide in my voice whether I had won or lost after each match and laughing at the silly things I’d say together, you gave so many so much and that will live on with us always.
